Strength and Conditioning for Nosework

Nosework is often thought of as a gentle sport; and it is compared to more physically rigorous sports. But, it is still a sport and it requires the dog to have the ability to be on their feet, working, off and on throughout the day. Some trial sites have hills, and extended walking in between searches and Elite/Detective level dogs have to search for much longer periods of time. A dog in good condition, with enhanced strength, cardio, flexibility, balance, and body awareness, is going to have the physicality to stay stronger all day, and likely have better performance in their searches. This class will focus on foundation exercises, as well as body awareness work that will help dogs use their bodies more effectively when searching. There will also be cardio work for teams to complete outside of class, along with strengthening exercises.

We will be using equipment in class, but students will not have to purchase specialized equipment unless they wish to as most equipment can be substituted with other things you may already have at the entry level of fitness work.

This class is for dogs in good physical condition, with no known injuries, or fully recovered from any prior injuries, and at least one year of age.

This class is limited to FOUR (4) teams and will meet for six weeks for $180.00

Strength and Conditioning for Nosework - Fridays - 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, First class will meet January 10, 2020 and will meet additionally

1/17, 1/24, (NO CLASS 1/31) 2/7, 2/14, and 2/21/20.

Conditioning and Skills for Parkour

What is Parkour? Parkour is sometimes known as "Urban Agility." It is a physical discipline where dogs learn to conquer obstacles in their environment using skills such as jumping, balancing, and climbing. Parkour is not a competitive event, but you can earn titles through two different organizations by showing your dog's skills and abilities with Parkour. This class will start with conditioning to include strength work, flexibility, balance, and body awareness to prepare your dog for Parkour. We will also cover developing skills for Parkour, where to Parkour, developing confidence in your dog, and how to Parkour safely. By the end of this six week class you, and your dog, will be well on your way to prepare for a Training or Novice level title, or you will just have a lot of fun helping your dog get stronger and fit!

We will be using equipment in class, but students will not have to purchase specialized equipment unless they wish to as most equipment can be substituted with other things you may already have at the entry level of fitness work. Teams will need to have an appropriate harness for the Parkour skills portion of the class. An appropriate harness will be a "Y' type harness that does not interfere with the dog's shoulders.

This class is for dogs in good physical condition, with no known injuries, or fully recovered from any prior injuries, and at least one year of age.
